| A brief history: This is the sport that started it all, and it's only fitting that Minnesota is its birthplace. Lake Pepin to be exact, in 1922 in Lake City, MN. Towed by his brother Ben, Ralph Samuelson used two boards as skis and a clothes line as a tow rope. The sport remained a little-known activity for several years. Samuelson took stunts on the road, performing shows from Michigan to Florida. In 1966 the American Water Ski Association formally acknowledged Samuelson as the first on record. |
| Carrying on the brotherly approach that sprouted the sport, Wake Tonka, founded by 4 brothers, has taught hundreds of children and adults how to water ski over the years. A sport that's fun for all ages, we've successfully taught beginners as young as 4 and as seasoned 65 to ski for their first time! From deep water starts on basic two skis to slalom skiing, we teach it all and have all the tools, knowledge and skills necessary to get you up and riding behind the boat with ease. Questions?
